During this meeting, we look forward to stimulating scientific sessions, meaningful discussions, and the opportunity to learn from some of the finest minds in our specialty.

Beyond the academic programme, we also hope that this meeting fosters new friendships, strengthens professional bonds, and encourages collaborative efforts that will shape the future of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus care.
On behalf of the organizing committee, we extend our sincere gratitude to all our speakers, delegates, partners, and supporters who have contributed to making this conference possible.

We hope your time in Bhutan will be intellectually enriching, professionally rewarding, and personally memorable. Once again, welcome to SAO POSA 2026, and we wish you all a truly inspiring and successful conference.

ABOUT BHUTAN

Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, is nestled in the western central part of the country along the Wang Chhu River. It is one of the most unique capitals in the world where traditional Bhutanese culture blends harmoniously with modern development. The city is known for its monasteries, fortresses (dzongs), and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Major attractions include Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the Bhutanese government and monastic body; the towering Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the valley; the Memorial Chorten, a sacred stupa visited daily by locals; and the National Folk Heritage Museum, which showcases Bhutan’s rich cultural traditions. Despite being the capital, Thimphu has preserved its heritage and remains a peaceful city surrounded by forests and mountains.

Thimphu has a temperate mountain climate. Summers (June–August) are mild and pleasant with temperatures generally ranging between 15°C and 28°C. Winters (December–February) can be quite cold, with temperatures often dropping to around -2°C to 12°C, and occasionally below freezing during the night. Spring and autumn are considered the best seasons to visit, offering clear skies and comfortable temperatures ideal for sightseeing.
